    Emerson Car

Built this in my old shop with Rich Darjarian Mostly true, but notice the Coupe is longer than a normal one. Rich and another friend of ours who was a great machinist cut it into and added 6 inches to the car and then Rich had a new front clip built. That made it handle better at the track and he raced it at Thunder Hill and Sears Point.

Six inches is a lot. What was his purpose in lengthening it - more leg room, lengthen wheelbase for stability??

    Dan,

The longer wheelbase makes it much better in the corners. He went from 90" to 96". I had a 90" and then a 94" and I could really notice the difference. It doesn't want to swap ends quite so quick.

I could see the advantages of a longer wheelbase, especially on circuits with long sweeping curves at speed.
