Well, the search continues. Car wasn’t cosmetically anywhere near how it looked online. Mechanically sound but the owner sprayed an entire can of Mothers Back to Black on the entire undercarriage and frame so it all looked like it was darn near perfect for a 20 year old Jeep. A prior repaint was done poorly (and was already lifting in some places), it needed a new top and side windows, as well as tires (they were showing signs of ozone cracking). For being the first one that we actually drove to, it wasn’t a must have. Would have been a decent value at $6K but not $8.5K and I knew this seller was not set on bargaining much. Moving on...

It's out there Dean. You just have to find it.

    Dean,

Don't know if this is worth looking into. I know it's located in Maryland and I'm about 30 minutes away from it if you wanted a set of eyes to give it the once over.

Come to think about it, you may not want to me to look at it since I'm an "eye down".

George, I appreciate the offer. But what I’m learning in this quest is that my idea of “rough” and what I’m willing to live with is a whole lot different than what the Mrs. wants to be seen in. LOL

    Dean,

You’re welcome. I know the feeling. A few years back, I was hot on wanting an H1. I found one with meticulous maintenance records and in immaculate shape. Brought it home and my wife said it was a rust bucket. Besides the normal rust on the running gear, the rest of the truck was so clean, you could have eaten off the motor.

    Dean the Fool 1.

My senior bride wanted me to do some stuff around the house so I started looking at new trucks. She did not like the new truck idea so I bought this POS Ford pickup that was spray painted 3 different shades of yellow.

After 3 or 4 months she was sick of seeing it in the driveway so one Saturday she sent me out and told me not to come back unless I had a new truck.
