    Canadian Grand Prix

Well I thought the call for the 5 second penalty could have gone either way but at least they did it there. NASCAR would have waited until the middle of the week and then announced they were taking the win away like they did last year.

    What a bullshit call.

It's a f*cking race and they did not collide.

Vettel should have let Ham pas after his mishap and try to take his place back in the last 10 laps. That would have been fair play. No penalty needed.

Looks like Vettel had little control of his car at the point where Hamilton caught him. Its hard to say he did he deliberately block or was he just trying to keep from spinning out.

It should not have been a penalty. The ruling is; that if a car goes off course and gains an advantage by an unsafe course re-entry the car that went off track has to yield to the other car. If Vettel had yielded the position he would not have got the penalty.

Sorry James your first and last sentence seem to be contradictory. Do you believe the penalty imposed was just?

There would have not been a penalty if Vettel has let Hamilton go and then resumed racing. Because he did not let Hamilton go they called a 5 second penalty.

He got the penalty because he reentered the track in an unsafe manner. Of course he did. He lost control over the car and tried hard not to crash! He couldn't even stop the car within 10 meters at that speed. What a bunch of dumba**ss in the climatized "penalty box". I wish Niki could comment...

Next race put slots in the track and use a handheld control which can be actuated with a beer in the other hand. Best to use an oval race track.

I officially stop watching F1 now.
    nothing is as it seems...

I felt at the time it happened, that he went wider then need be, and purposely blocked Hamilton. Then I saw a cockpit view, and thought, OK he was still fighting to control the car, and did not do it on purpose. When I heard the stewards decision, and felt it was unfair.

Race steward's have much more to go by, than just my TV camera view of the incident. Data, involving brake, throttle, and steering inputs, several other camera views, and extra slow-motion, basically frame by frame, can be reviewed to help with their decision. Then of course there is the rules, laid out in black and white, that they need to abide by, and apply, regardless of their personal interpretation of an event.

F1 has been an elitist type of racing for many years now, and I very seldom watch it since it started to change.

Some thoughts & discussions on the incident..

Since there was no contact at most they could have ordered Vettel to move over and let Hamilton pass. Still a chicken shit call in my opinion but then they could have still raced to the checkered flag.

Good solution. Being able to still race for it would have been more fair. Better for fans too.
