They clearly switch their brains off... -like thousands of workers entering the GM factory every morning.

I really wish F1 would ban those wings and only allow everybody only a "spec" board in front and rear. Saves millions, too...

Those teams think in billions of dollars. The two MB factory drivers make over $300M. I doubt a spec wing be make any difference, and it sure would be hard to tech. I've always wondered about the tire rules. They have to change once to a different tire compound (uness it rains)? Why that? Why not let them run all race with a hard compound tire?

It was very cool to see all of the drivers show their respect to "Niki" Lauda.

    Hey dudes.
I was projecting the value of the contracts in a yearly payments. Do you dudes have a better number for a 5-Time F-1 Champion?

We all know he is a 6-time now? He has something that is better than anyone.

Toto Wolff said Ferrari is 0.60 seconds faster on the long Montreal straight. Can Ferrari preform on race day?

He may have won, but it was tainted at best.

I agree except: The ruling was caused by driver error in losing control of a car in a turn. The team told him Hamilton was gaining time so he tried to pick up speed. Vettel had speed on the main straight but was losing small fractions of a second in the turns.

Hamilton was bothering him, and he screwed up. Hamilton still gained time during the remaining part of the race but never had to attack (due to obvious reasons after the penalty).

Maybe, Vettel needs to retire. His butt has been kicked for the last 5 years. I'd replace him with Max Verstappen.

Ferrari has had 3 Principles in the last 5 years (Mattia Binotto replaced Arrivabene in January). This isn't the problem.
    -------------

IMO, the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Team is just one of the best teams in F-1 history. Toto Wolff, as the Principle, is a former F-1 driver. He knows his shit.

His team has won 79 of 105 F-1 races with the current configuration (over 75%). He has won every Championship in those 5 years (Nico Rosberg won in 2016).

He also founded a hedge fund (investment fund) in 1998 when he was 26 years old.
    ------

BTW, I noticed that this race had some commercials. I suspect that "free" viewing is coming to an end. It may take a fee to see it w/o ads in the future?

I wonder if one of Wolff's investments is in this deal?

I'd say that it is complete domination of Hamilton and Wolf today.

Mercedes sucked. They hired Wolf in 2012, and Wolf hired Hammer. They have done well.

I see some other teams showing good lap times in France. I see a better Ferrari driver than Vettel.

The Haas F-1 Team sucks even with their Ferrari engine.

It's interesting how so many of the other teams are having trouble getting the tires up to their operating range but Mercedes has no trouble at all.

Are they running more low speed camber to create more “scrub” earlier? Maybe a hotter (stickier) tire earlier can overcome a less efficient high speed camber setting? I’m just guessing here.

I wish Ferrari could give MB some real competition, but I think they have lost their way for some reason. They turn over team management regularly and it seems their style is to put maximum pressure on their design team and drivers when things are not going their way and it obviously is not leading to maximum results. I'm also beginning to wonder about Seb. He should be delivering more for a 4 time world champion. Maybe the Ferrari pressure is getting to him as well.
He seems to be making a lot of unforced errors.

I don't know Dean. They have a lot of smart people on those teams and a lot of them are struggling.
