    Magnesium Wheels - group buy

This is a shout out to anyone interested in buying a set of magnesium wheels. Rodneym at CC has been working on getting a group together for the next run. I'm sure we have some people here that could use a set . Maybe a few manufactures could use a couple of sets for kit upgrade. Anyone here have any experience with mag wheels?

I was going to get a set, but it was taking too long. I ended up buying a set of 18" from Germany.

If we can get a group buy, maybe I could get a free set.

    Anyone?

Leave it to Nomad to post to a 9+ year old thread. The bourbon is strong in B.C.

Well Dean that is why I didn't feel very bad about taking it way off topic.

Whoa !! That's way more than I was expecting. I guess our friendship isn't as deep as I thought.

I was going to say that a friend is what other people have, but that might hurt your feelings so I won't say it.

So you needed 9, say 10 years turnaround time for a new group to buy mags? I am in for 2030! :-)

A little history since so many are having fun with this revived thread. I remember the original thread that RodneyM established on this. As I recall the foundry owner was a little sketchy and receiving firm confirmations on an actual run (after cash was deposited) was difficult. There is also the warranties to consider, since magnesium's porosity is a known fault. Many were considering doing this, either for personal use or for speculative purposes. I was strongly considering falling into that second bucket and commit to a couple sets for resale. But it died and I have no idea where it would stand today (i.e. who has the original Halibrand molds, etc.).
