For the last 5 years the Daytona 500 has had declining ratings and CRAPCAR just can't figure out why. People want to see racing like it used to be, not this darn restrictor plate NASCAR controlled high speed parades they have now.
2017: 11.9 million
2018: 9.3 million
2019: 9.2 million
2020: 7.3 million (rain delayed)
2021: 4.8 million (rain delayed)

I used it back in the 1990's when everyone was cheating in Formula Ford and I could not convince SCCA to test fuel. It had a label that warned of genetic damage from exposure. It worked great though, went up 4 jet sizes and kid was on the pole by over a second against other cheaters. They started testing fuel after that.
Back in the 80’s...I was in the middle of the GT-2 Datsun/Mazda Battles.....I finally learned the smell of Propylene Oxide.....from Kenny Schrader of NASCAR.....we were good friends....well at The Run-Offs at Road Atlanta in 1984....after qualifying, SCCA wanted to inspect the top 3 Qualifiers....it was myself 280ZX and 2 each RX7’s of John Finger & John Hogdal.....when I pulled in to the Tech area....the 2 Madza’s We’re running and I could smell the Propylene Oxide.....I mentioned it to Finger a little later and he just smiled....SCCA could not detect the Propylene Oxide because it evaporated out within 30 minutes....but you could smell it in a enclosed area.....I out qualified them that year and never looked back......but knew they were doing everything they could to catch us...we also won the race....then I had a Smile on my face....
Good story Morris, all their cheating did not help. The smell of that stuff on the formula Ford grid was so strong it would make you sick. You are right, very hard to catch.
