    Our newest member, GreatNorthRoad

Please welcome GreatNorthRoad (Simon). Here's what Simon had to say:

Iím based in the UK, Northumberland and Yorkshire. Iíve been building a replica for four years and Iím at the paint stage. Itís a heavily modified Hawk 289 FIA that I have almost 750 hours invested in so far. I wanted a really period ex-racer look and done everything myself, all the fabrication, engine build, paint, trim, wiring. Iím hoping to have it finished and on the road for early spring.

Simon, it's guys like you that remind me that I didn't "build" my car, I only assembled it. Very impressive!

Welcome to the forum, hope you enjoy and jump in with more about your build.

    Simon,

Welcome to our site. We have some other members from the UK and I hope you can make a connection with them. Your Hawk looks great even before the paint. There are some great roads in the UK for fantastic driving.

Thank you for the welcome. I am enjoying looking around at some beautiful cars on here, lots of inspiration.

There are some fantastic roads in the UK, but unfortunately the weather keeps the good cars tucked away for five months in the year. We are blessed with quiet roads up here in the top corner, it’s the least populated county in England!

I’m around 50 hours into paint prep and hope to have the top coat on next week. I can’t wait to put it all back together and hit the road come the milder weather
    Si

    Si,

If you have other pics of your build I would really love to see them.

    Simon,

To post photos from flickr here, do the following:

    - From your photostream in Flickr, click on a photo to expand it.
    - Click on the download icon in the lower right corner (looks like an arrow pointing downward)
    - A pop-up will display, select "View all sizes"
-Right click on the photo and select "Copy image address"
-In your post on this site, put the following image tags in front of and after the image address:

    [img]paste flickr address here[/img]

Seems like a lot of steps but, after you've done it a couple times, it's pretty easy. I just checked your Flickr link and can see all your photos. No need to put any of those here, as it's nice to be able to see the collection and it works just fine.

First off welcome to the site Simon. Hope you enjoy your stay here.

Not sure but I believe you need to be a member of Flickr to see the pictures on that site. If I remember correctly Dean could not see my pictures that I have stored there.

At first I was going to ask about the two piece trunk lid but then I seen from your pictures that you have a hard top for it.

Thanks Silver, good point about Flickr membership. I have an account so maybe that's why I could access. Could someone who doesn't use Flickr try to view the photos and report back?

Don't you just hate it when I may be correct. I know it really pisses off my senior bride and Nomad.

It does hurt a little bit but, fortunately, it doesn't happen too often.

And in case you have not figured it out yet Simon, some of us tend to joke around a little bit.

    Hi Guys
Nothing wrong with joking around, we need a sense of humour these days.

I think there are various permission levels on Flickr. Users can set the level of accessibility, and those are set to public, so maybe they are open to all to see. I know how to post Flickr images, but I’m stuck on a not so smart phone today, which doesn’t want to play. I’ll whack some more photos up when I get to a proper device later this week.

Thanks again for the welcome. You guys have some awesome cars on here.
